How far along am I? | Is my pregnancy viable? | Is there a heartbeat?
When you receive a positive pregnancy test result, an obstetrical ultrasound can provide you with additional information on your pregnancy status, such as how many weeks pregnant you are and if your pregnancy is viable (see below).
If indicated, a limited obstetrical ultrasound may be offered. This will provide accurate measurements of the gestational age of your pregnancy (how far along you are) and can determine the viability of your pregnancy (whether it has a chance to progress as expected based on location and a fetal heartbeat).
Limited ultrasounds are not necessarily indicated in every pregnancy situation, but if one is scheduled, the procedure is always free and confidential at CHOICES. Our licensed Registered Nurse sonographer will use the information to talk you through the next steps or discuss what options are available to you regarding your pregnancy.
